Choosing Your Night Vision
Start with where you will use the device and what you want to observe. Then consider your budget, helmet and mounts. Similar names and housings can use different technology: image-intensifier and digital models work differently.
1. Choose how you want to see
- Image intensifier: amplifies available light. It still needs light to form an image. Compare tube specifications, phosphor colour, and autogating.
- Digital: shows camera imagery on a display. Some models use IR illumination in darkness. Compare display shape, field of view, refresh rate, and power supply.
- Thermal: shows thermal differences. Check whether the product is designed for standalone viewing or attachment to another device.
PVS-14 and PVS-31
The PVS-14 is a monocular; the PVS-31 has a binocular-style housing. Our PVS-31 range includes both image-intensifier and digital models. Compare the operating technology, display, power supply, and included accessories.
2. Compare models
- COD MW Dark Edition: black-and-white or blue display, with IR illumination. Unit-only and helmet-set options.
- PVS-31 digital: binocular-style housing with round or square display options.
- PVS-31 SUPER: 60FPS digital display with colour support; visibility depends on available light.
- GPNVG-18 digital: four cameras and a 97° field of view. An upward-folding side-tube model is also available.
- PVS-14: Gen2+ white-phosphor monocular. A binocular configuration requires a second unit and a separate bridge.
- PVS-31 Gen2+: green or white phosphor, with the available autogating options.
- Jerry C5: clip-on thermal imaging for a compatible night vision device. Uses 18650 batteries only, sold separately.

3. Check mounts and power
Helmet mounting requires compatible connectors and adapters. Included parts vary by product; a complete mounting set is not included with every device. Check whether batteries and a charger are included.
